Chris Welsh

Physiotherapist

Chris graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2005 after previously completing a Bachelor of Exercise science at Australian Catholic University

 

Chris has been working at the Taylors Lakes and Sydenham clinics as well as the Hoppers Crossing clinic since graduating and has been an integral part of their growth. In 2009 Chris became part-owner of the Taylors Lakes and Sydenham clinics with Mark Round, after purchasing the clinics formerly known as Think Physio.

Chris' interest in physio was sparked through many years of involvement in sports, and his subsequent frequent visits to physiotherapists. Since practicing, he has developed a special interest in treating headaches & neck pain, shoulder pain and sporting injuries. Chris ensures his clients understand their injuries and his treatments have a strong focus on the prevention of a re-occurrence.

Over the years, Chris has worked with the Victorian Lacrosse team and Western Bulldogs AFL team.  He's currently the physiotherapist for the Keilor Football Club in the EDFL.

Stefan Heeman

Physiotherapist

Stefan studied physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne, and upon graduating quickly found himself involved in private practice and elite sporting teams around Melbourne. He has based his practice work around the Sydenham and Taylors Lakes area for the last two years, and has been a treating physiotherapist for the Williamstown Football Club (VFL) and the Essendon Royals Soccer Club (Victorian Premier League). He has developed a keen interest in the treatment of back, muscle and joint injuries in people of all ages and lifestyles, and helping to achieve a more active and pain-free lifestyle for everyone.

 

Stefan is committed to furthering his physiotherapy training and discovering more ways to benefit his patients, and as such regularly uses Dry Needling as a treatment technique to complement the exercises he prescribes to help empower each injured person help improve themselves.

Jon Cartwright

Physiotherapist

 

 

Jon graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2004 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy and on moving to Australia has joined the team at Symmetry Physiotherapy.

 

Since graduating Jon has worked solely in private practice. During this time he has worked with several sports teams including premier and representative Rugby sides and the Wellington ‘Firebirds’ provincial cricket side. He has also worked with New Zealand ‘Black Cap’ Cricketers and elite Basketball players. Jon has specialised in Manual therapy and in high end sporting rehabilitation. He also has a passion in restoring functional movement patterns and Lower limb mechanics.

 

Aside from Physiotherapy Jon is also a keen Sportsperson himself having played at New Zealand NBL and CBL level. He was also a New Zealand Basketball representative at age group level.

 

Gina Abdelmalak

Physiotherapist

 

 

 

Gina has always had a deep interest in how the human body works, which led her to pursue a career in Physiotherapy. She graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008. Since graduating, she has worked at St.Vincent’s Hospital before joining the team at Symmetry Physiotherapy.

 

Since working in private practice, Gina has developed a special interest in Pilates, which has led her to become a trained Pilates instructor. She currently takes her clients through matwork and reformer sessions for rehab and general conditioning.

 

Clinically, Gina blends knowledge from both Pilates and standard physiotherapy practices to provide comprehensive treatment programs for clients. Her passion for continued professional development as well as her cheerful disposition makes her a valued member at Symmetry Phsyiotherapy.

 

Outside of her professional commitments, Gina enjoys going to her local gym, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She is also an active participant of her local church, where she is a grade 2 Sunday school teacher.
