GENERAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy is a science based health care profession that views human movement as the cornerstone to “balancing health and living”. Physiotherapy aims to restore normal function of the body so we can achieve a pain free quality of life.

The Physiotherapists at Symmetry Physiotherapy achieve this with an expertly conducted and thorough assessment and diagnosis of your problem. Then upon consultation with yourself we will outline a treatment program that will decrease your pain, improve your function and take you to the level of fitness and well being you desire.

SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY

Sports Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that involves the assessment, diagnosis and management of sports injuries. In addition to graduate physiotherapy knowledge and skills, physiotherapists working in this area of practice require advanced knowledge, understanding and skills relevant and specific to sports physiotherapy. In particular, a sports physiotherapist demonstrates the following:

  • an understanding of physiotherapy in the context of sport.
  • working knowledge related to the role of the sports health team.
  • an ability to apply knowledge and skills that meet the specific needs of individual athletes.
  • a respect for age and physical ability in the context of sport.

Sports physiotherapy often includes assessment and treatment of sports participants during on-field training and competition as well as in a formal clinical setting. Sports Physiotherapists often work with other professions to form a Sports Health Team and apply their skills within a Sports Model. The Sports Model recognises the integral relationships and consultation between the sports health team and the sports coach, sports team members and sports team management staff.

Symmetry Physiotherapy has had links with high level sporting clubs and associations for over twenty years. If you would like more information about sports physiotherapy and how it may help you or your team, PLEASE CONTACT ONE OF OUR CENTRES NOW.
