We will be offering comprehensive services for clients suffering from urinary incontinence. Our continence clinic will be available for anyone experiencing stress, urge or mixed urinary incontinence and is covered under the EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) program. You will need to see your GP and get a referral to the program and you will receive $50.05 back from Medicare for your appointments. We have two trained continence physiotherapists who are completing their Master’s Degrees in the area of Continence and Women’s Health, Alesha Sayner and Alex Lopes. Jessica Mayne, a physiotherapist with a passionate interest in Women’s Health and incontinence will also be assisting in the clinic with those clients who do not require internal examinations.
Costs: Initial assessment: 45 minutes ($105) Reviews: 30 Minutes ($70) From each consultation you will receive just over $50 back from Medicare. We would usually see you 4-6 times over a 6 month period to get long term results. Some clients may only require 1 or 2 sessions. Clients tend to experience the most significant improvement within the first 4-6 weeks. · You will be sent or you can download an accident diary for urinary incontinence and a fluid chart to roughly track your fluid habits over an average 24 hours. Initial consultation: · Full assessment including an internal examination. (Vaginal or rectal when needed) · Discussion of bladder and bowel habits. · Advise on correct voiding techniques for bowel and bladder. · Information pack on good bladder and bowel habits. · Dietary advice to manage constipation (we also have onsite dietician where relevant). · Fluid intake advice based on your bladder diary. Looking at what needs to change to assist with incontinence symptoms. · Set a personalised pelvic floor exercise program. Information sheet provided. Review Consultation: · Re-assess pelvic floor muscle strength by an internal vaginal examination or rectal exam (when required) · Progress pelvic floor muscle exercises. · Review incontinence symptoms and adjust programs and bladder habits where required.
